Your Stories

From the K-2 class at Creekside Elementary

Dear Dr. Resmaa Menakem,

I wanted to share how The Stories From My Grandmother's Hands has had such a positive impact on both me and my students. We’ve loved diving into this story together, exchanging perspectives, staying curious around any discomfort, and growing our capacity to embrace differences. The connections we made to our own grandmothers for wisdom and insight, while also pushing ourselves to think more deeply, have been so meaningful.

Reading My Grandmother’s Hands with young children has really opened up new ways of understanding and empathy. I truly believe this work will help shape a future where justice, compassion, and equity take center stage.

We even created a digital book, The Stories of Our Grandmother's Hands, inspired by the conversations we had along the way. It reflects the heart of what we experienced together as a class. Thank you for writing such an important and powerful book!

Warmly,

Kimmy Schuelke

From a young reader in the UK

I wanted to share this short 8 second clip from my granddaughter Thea, who received her copy a couple days ago in the UK.

Thank you! Her parents say she loves it.

Much gratitude to you and your wife for the beautiful healing work that you do. I will be coming to experience one day.
